Welcome Ava Belle Schuchard!

On Thursday, April 10th 2008 at 3:52am God gave us a new little baby girl, Ava Belle Schuchard! She weighs 9lbs 2oz and is 21 inches long.

Lauren started to have fairly hard contractions about every 10 minutes starting at 8:00pm on Wednesday. By midnight, they were coming every 5 or six and were really hard. Lauren labored a little longer at home (which was nice), and then we called Oma who came over to watch Vanessa while we booted it over to Poudre Valley Hospital, arriving there at about 2:00am Thursday.

Here's Lauren laboring at home.

When we arrived the nurses said she was 4 centimeters dilated which wasn't very encouraging considering she had been 3cm for more than a week and had been laboring pretty well for 5 or 6 hours. By now the contractions were every 4 to 5 minutes and were really hard. Lauren did the entire thing natural, no epidural, no drugs...she's awesome! From here on out the labor was fast and furious and after about 30 minutes, the nurses checked again and said she was at 9.5cm! Yikes, that was fast! It wasn't too much longer before the nurses were shouting for the Doc to get in there. He pretty much walked in the room and caught Ava Belle as she came out! It was amazing! Both Lauren and Ava are doing great!

Another labor pic.

Introducing Vanessa to Ava. Vanessa loved her and even gave Ava her cherished "pink bear" stuffed animal :)

Ava has slept and eaten like a champ.

I like this one :)

Vanessa even tried to share one of her goldfish crackers when Ava's mouth was open like this :)

This is absolutely priceless!

Visitors (Len, Miki, Ceinwen and Asher Wick)! Yay!

Our entire Bible study group came to visit. What fun!

40 weeks pregnant!

Yea! We have officially made it to 40 weeks! This is just to let you know that as soon as baby comes, Ben will be blogging out the info and hopefully pictures, so stay tuned.......

Vanessa day!

On March 22nd we decided to have a 'Vanessa day' in which we did only Vanessa related activities all day. We started out the day by going to our churches family pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt. WE tried to take some pictures, but it was just plain chaos there and none of them turned out. Then we headed down to Denver to the Downtown Aquarium. As some of you know, Vanessa is a fish freak so we were really looking forward to seeing her reaction to the aquarium. All in all, it was a very special day with just dad, mom and Vanessa.

We started out with her in the Kangakid, but soon realized that she needed to be on the ground, so we let her out and totally let her set the pace for the day. If she wanted to stop and look at one fish for a half hour, then that was what we did...

Dad and Vanessa checking out the fishes...

Pretty much her facial expression the whole afternoon because she was just in complete awe!

What a big girl! She led us around the aquarium and had the time of her life!

She would stand at some displays for what seemed like hours, she just couldn't get enough!

She was having so much fun with fish that we never really got a good picture of us, this was the best we could come up with!

Yup, I'm pretty much in heaven!
